Haramain High-Speed Line
RAILWAY ELECTRIFICATION
The Haramain High-Speed Line is Saudi Arabia’s first high-speed inter-city line connecting Makkah to Madinah via Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport, King Abdullah Economic City.
The Haramain Express train is expected to travel the new 450 km long railway network in 2 h 52 min and achieve speeds of more than 300 km/h.
The Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO) has awarded the contract to the Spanish-Saudi consortium Al-Shoula to equip, operate and maintain for 12 years the 450km Haramain High-Speed Line.
Technical characteristics
SDCEM provided disconnector switches for the line’s catenaries and substations to the Al-Shoula Consortium between 2015 and 2017. Our equipment is design to suit to the environmental constraints such as Saudi Arabia’s extremely sandy and warm environment. SDCEM scope of supply:
